The biggest problems people have nowadays

So what are some of the biggest problems people have nowadays? Well, if you were to ask this question to a random group of people you are likely to get a bunch of different answers.

Over the past decade, there is no doubt that the world has gone through several problems and disasters. Even today there are some severe and serious problems that have raised huge global issues.

According to a 2014 report by the Global Risks, the world is risked under 5 classifications-economic, environmental, geopolitical, societal, and technological. These problems are not only global in nature but also have the potential to cause strong negative impacts across the whole world.

Here are some of the most common problems that people are facing in this world today.

  1. Food security

Over the past 2 years, the number of hungry people has greatly increased. 1 out of 10 people in the world regularly go hungry and suffer from nutritional problems. It’s the biggest problem to the health of human population more so that of HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis.

This does not mean that we are not producing enough food but rather people do not have access to the food. The main cause of this is not having enough money to buy the food and not being able to grow their food.

2. Climate change

Climate change has the potential of producing very serious effects into the world. But is it among the biggest problems in the world? According to global estimates, the current greenhouse emissions are likely to increase the global temperature of 2.6 degrees C to 4.6 degrees C.

If this happens there is likely to be a great humanitarian harm including food crisis, severe weather and the spread of serious infectious diseases. While the chance of that increase is low the degree of harm that it might cause is very high.

3. Global child health and primary education

Although children are key to the future success of any country, many children across the world lack access to some of the most important basic needs. Child education and health usually go hand in hand.

Children who are hungry cannot concentrate and malnutrition may lead to permanent physiological damage in them. Children who are habitually hungry may develop cognitive problems. Hence might never be able to achieve their actual professional or academic potentials.

4. Nuclear weapons

Nuclear weapons that are currently being developed have the potential of killing billions of people indirectly and millions of people directly. There are many examples in which countries such as Russia and the US came close to deliberately or accidentally using nuclear weapons.

Despite the reduction of the number of nuclear weapons, there are still over 16,000 nuclear weapons across the world. These weapons have the potential to cause destruction and suffering on an unprecedented scale.

5. Premature sex among the young people

A lot of young people start developing curiosity towards sex due to their hormonal changes. Since sex education is low some young people end up indulging in premature sex.

According to studies done having sex in adolescences can have very serious effects on the mind and the body. This is because the sexual act takes place when their systems are still developing. Although the impact may not be immediate once the individual matures she may start experiencing health issues.

6. High unemployment or underemployment

One of the biggest crises that the world is facing today is unemployment. According to the international labor organization, over 73 billion people are jobless.

This problem is not only limited to the developing counties but also to the developed countries. Those who live in emerging or even advanced countries are struggling with issues to do with employment.

7. Need for gender equality

Although the population of women is almost half of the total population, there have been some barriers to personal and economic freedom of women. While a lot has been done to alleviate this, developing countries still have a long way to go.

Right from a very young age, women are dis-empowered. Especially when they are prevented from attending school due to financial reasons or because of the belief that education does not matter. According to studies, women still earn much less than men.
