Reasons Why We Should Protect Wild Animals

Wild animals play an important role in balancing our ecosystem and stabilizing natural processes. In fact, our lives would not be possible without animals and plants. They make up flora and fauna that are essential for our food, clothes, clean water, soil and oxygen.

This article gives answers to questions like : What would life be like without animals? Why do animals need our help and protection nowadays? And also, what should I do to protect animals? How can I help?

What do we need animals for?

Throughout the development of our world, oceans and rivers have provided us with fish;  plants gave us fruits and vegetables; forests provided us with wildmeat; ecosystems took care of our clean water and weather.

Moreover, we started domesticating wild animals to make them our livestock. These animals would provide us with food and clothes. We trained wild canines to hunt and guard us, they developed over the years to become dogs.

Wild birds, bats, squirrels and bees enable fruit trees fertilization process and the production of seeds. By helping pollination process wild animals ensure that we have forests and woodlands. And from these forests we are able to built houses for shelter, furniture for comfort living. We also use the wood to make a fire and keep us warm, to build ships to cross oceans and make books to carry knowledge. Wildlife helps us to make it possible easier.

We need to make sure that animals around us are safe, healthy and productive, because we rely on animals for food, labor and companionship.

Furthermore, animals play significant role in insect population control. Also, animals improve aesthetics of the earth in general. If there were no animals on our planet, for instance, the world would not be as colorful and different as it is today.protect wild animals

Why do animals need our help? What are the reasons for animals becoming endangered? Reasons Why We Should Protect Wild Animals

Every year there are less and less natural wildlife habitat remain on Earth. Destruction, fragmentation, pollution and degradation of habitat puts the survival of wild animals in danger.

Here are several reasons why wild animals need our help:

Climate Change

With the raise of temperature, hot days become hotter, floods and hurricanes stronger. Climate extremes also cause some areas to have very dry climate, which leads to other natural disasters like droughts, meaning dry lands, dead crops and lack of drinking water.

Furthermore, global warming causes dangerous changes to the landscape of our planet. These changes impact wild animals and their habitat. Many animals require specific habitat environment and can just die. It may lead to disastrous loss of some species. The truth is that a loss of one species can affect many other species in an ecosystem.

Unregulated Hunting

Unregulated hunting and poaching causes the decline in the particular animals species. It is a major threat to wild animals, nowadays. Some species were hunted to extinction already, like passenger pigeon, for example.

Deforestation

People continuously develop, grow and expand their businesses. Sometimes it means invasion of wildlife habitat.

Humans cut down the trees, clear up the forests to create more space them. It leads to many animals loose their homes and food, and it makes it hard for them to survive.

Pollution

Toxic chemicals that are released into the environment may be consumed by wild animals and harm them.

Furthermore, when air pollutants mix with water particles in clouds, the water becomes acidic. Then, when this water falls to the ground, we get acid rain that damages the environment. Acid rain damages trees, animals and fish.

Natural phenomena like earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, forest fires and lightening also affect wildlife.

Over-exploitation

The overuse of animals by people for food, clothing, pets, medicine, sport, and many other purposes is another problem. There is always a danger, that if too many individuals of a species are taken from their natural environment, the species may no longer be able to survive.

Harmful Radiation

Human activities like nuclear tests, use of computers and phones, loudspeaker, and so on,  produced a harmful radiations which decreased the growth rate of animals and plants. Studies showed that this harmful radiation is also changes the DNA of the animals.

Ways to contribute in saving wild animals

Use Water Wisely

Reduce the use of water in your home and garden so that animals that live in or near water can have a better chance of survival.

Be Careful When Driving

More and more roads are build nowadays and many wild animals get killed by cars. In fact, roads are always dangerous for any animal trying to cross from one side to the other. Therefore, please slow sown and keep an eye out for wild animals.

Volunteer or Donate to Wildlife Conservation Organizations

You can also help wild animals by supporting the organizations that try to save endangered species. There are some organizations like WCSEndangered Species Coalition, also WWF and more, that are dedicated in saving wildlife.

Educate Your Community

Teaching your family and friends about amazing wild animals, birds and fish around you definitely helps. Because the first step in protecting animals is learning about them.

More people understand the reasons why we should protect wild animals, more animals can be saved. In addition, it is easier, more efficient and more fun to do it together.
