What does our unhealthy desire to eat something harmful actually signal and how to avoid it?
Usually weight gain occurs spontaneously – we suddenly decide to eat a bar of chocolate before going to bed or eat junk food after work. And every time it is so delicious! Payback for a sudden desire – tight jeans and permanent feeling of guilt. And now the good news! Every impulse of our body has particular reasons. Knowing the essence of the problem will help to avoid harmful consequences. Most probably it is just a signal of deficit of nutrients
DESIRE TO EAT CHOCOLATE
It means that the body has a lack of magnesium. This mineral is responsible for energy production, metabolic processes and muscle function. It related mostly for those who regularly go to the gym. In addition, the level of magnesium naturally decreases in the premenstrual week, that is why we so unbearably want to eat a chocolate bar during PMS.
Advice: Instead you can eat dark chocolate (75% cocoa). Or include in the diet ordinary sunflower seeds.
DESIRE TO EAT SOMETHING SWEET
Desire to eat something sweet is a sign that you have lack energy. Sugar in this case is the simplest and most instant fuel for the cells. Especially after hard work or exhausting stressful days.
Advice: The quickest way to “recharge” yourself is to eat proteins and fats. For example, an apple with nuts or cuddled milk with berries. Our cells will spend this fuel much longer.
DESIRE TO EAT ICE CREAM
It means that your body needs fats.
Advice: Try to replace your favorite strawberry ice cream with walnuts or avocado. They have a lot of healthy fats. But if you still want ice cream you can choose a coconut-flavored one, traditionally it has less sugar than others
DESIRE TO EAT SOMETHING SALTY
It means that you are dehydrated. Salts help to retain water, that is we want to eat something salty.
Advice: Just drink some water. Maintaining a level of hydration is important at any time of the year, but especially in summer months. If drinking simple water is difficult for you, then you can add mint, lemon slices or frozen fruits to it. If following trick didn’t work, and your hands are still trying to get some french fries, try to find a less-calorie alternative.
DESIRE TO EAT BURGER
If you are thinking about juicy burger, there is a great chance that you have a lack of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid.
Advice: The good news is that hamburgers can also be healthy. If they are made from farm meat (animals were fed without antibiotics or hormonal stimulators) But you still may alter it with cottage cheese, peanuts and tuna.
To sum up, all your desires have particular motive, so you just have to listen to the signals of your body. Hopefully, all above-mentioned tips will help you to figure everything out. Eat healthy and stay beautiful! 🙂
